BOOK-IN-PROGRESS-ANNOUNCEMENT
 Principles of Databases
by Marcelo Arenas, Pablo Barcelo, Leonid Libkin, Wim Martens, and Andreas Pieris

* This book is intended to become the new standard textbook on database theory.
* We planned the book such that large parts of it are suitable for teaching.
Chapters are short, and a chapter roughly corresponds to the contents of a
 single lecture.
* For the ease of teaching and understanding the material, we may sometimes
cut corners. If we want to give the reader a relatively quick insight of a
particular result, this sometimes means that we present a weaker form of the
result than the most general result known in the literature.
* The current pdf is downloadable at https://github.com/pdm-book/community/.
We have been teaching from this book ourselves, but the present version will
undoubtedly still have errors. In fact, if you find some, you can open an issue
on Github and we will look into it.
* The current table of contents consists of 9 major parts, ranging from the
classic material on relational databases to recent results in the field.
* The current release contains 3 parts, from which it is possible to design
a MSc course in database theory.
* We are working intensely on the unreleased chapters and parts and may still improve
already released material. If you would like to get access to some unreleased content,
please email Wim Martens and we'll see what we can do.
