PoDM Newsletter 21, March 2020
The newsletter on Principles of Data Management from databasetheory.org

(I hope this finds you well in this terrible time.

This newsletter has a hard time of its own: in January there was no
newsletter due to a stupid mistake on my side. Early March it did not
get through due to a shutdown of the network of ULB in Brussels (not
related to Corona but to hackers). Special thanks to Stijn Vansummeren
for bringing databasetheory.org back.

Take care, as good as you can, many greetings and wishes from Thomas Schwentick)

- novel formal frameworks or directions for database theory and/or
- connections between principles of data management and other communities.

* Every topic related to the principles of data management is relevant to ICDT. Particularly welcome are contributions that connect data management to theoretical computer science, and those that connect database theory and database practice. Examples of relevant topics include:
- Data mining, information extraction, information retrieval, and database aspects of machine learning

NEW BLOG POST: Improving Scholarly Publishing in Computer Science: Why and How
A new article on the Database Theory blog
<https://databasetheory.org/node/107> explores ways in which we could
improve scholarly publishing in computer science, by doing innovative
research using the corpus of academic papers, and lifting the obstacles
that makes this corpus difficult to access and use. To give feedback or
discuss these topics, the article comes with a mailing-list
<https://sympa.inria.fr/sympa/info/cs-publishing> to which you are
invited to subscribe.
